Google Introduces Screenless Fitbit Air

Tech giant Google has officially introduced the new Fitbit Air, a lightweight wearable designed for users who want health tracking without the distractions of a smartwatch. The new device brings advanced fitness and wellness monitoring into a minimal screen-free experience while offering up to seven days of battery life.

The launch marks one of Google’s biggest updates to the Fitbit ecosystem in recent years. Instead of focusing on notifications, apps, or large displays, the Fitbit Air is designed to quietly track health data in the background and sync insights directly to the new Google Health app.

What Makes Fitbit Air Different?

Unlike traditional smartwatches, the Fitbit Air comes without a display. Google says the idea is to reduce distractions while still giving users access to detailed wellness tracking.

The wearable reportedly tracks:

  • 24/7 heart rate monitoring
  • Sleep stages and sleep quality
  • Blood oxygen levels (SpO2)
  • Skin temperature changes
  • Heart rhythm monitoring with Afib alerts
  • Activity and workout detection
  • Recovery and wellness insights

Users can check all data through the updated Google Health mobile app instead of viewing it on the wrist.

Battery Life Could Be a Big Selling Point

One of the biggest highlights of the Fitbit Air is its battery performance. Google claims the wearable can last up to a full week on a single charge, making it suitable for continuous day-and-night tracking. Fast charging support is also included, with five minutes of charging reportedly providing enough power for a full day of use.

This could appeal to users who are tired of charging smartwatches every night.

Google Is Pushing AI Into Health Tracking

Another major focus is artificial intelligence. Google is integrating the Fitbit Air closely with its AI-powered Google Health Coach system. The AI platform is designed to provide personalized fitness suggestions, recovery guidance, and health insights based on user habits and activity data.

The company is also rebranding the Fitbit app into “Google Health,” signaling a broader strategy around AI-driven wellness tools. Premium AI coaching features will reportedly be available through a subscription plan.

Fitbit Air Price and Availability

Google has announced that the Fitbit Air will start at around $99.99 and pre-orders have already opened in selected markets. Official sales are expected to begin later this month.

The tracker is expected to compete with minimalist fitness devices such as Whoop and other recovery-focused wearables, but at a lower price point.

The Fitbit Air shows a noticeable shift in wearable technology trends. Instead of adding more screens and notifications, companies are now exploring simpler devices that focus only on health data and recovery tracking.

Google’s new approach may appeal to:

  • Fitness users wanting distraction-free tracking
  • People looking for longer battery life
  • Users interested in AI-powered wellness insights
  • Consumers who find smartwatches bulky or expensive

The launch also signals Google’s deeper commitment to health-focused AI products and wearable technology.

What is the Fitbit Air?

The Fitbit Air is Google’s new screenless wearable fitness tracker designed for health and wellness monitoring.

Does Fitbit Air have a screen?

No, the Fitbit Air is completely screenless and works through the Google Health mobile app.

How long does Fitbit Air battery last?

Google says the device can offer up to seven days of battery life on a single charge.

What health features are included?

The tracker includes heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, blood oxygen monitoring, activity detection, and AI-powered wellness insights.
