Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue its lightweight email application, Outlook Lite, for Android users within the next six weeks. The app is expected to stop working after May 25, 2026, officially ending its service.

What Will Happen After Shutdown

Outlook Lite was originally designed for entry-level Android devices and users with limited internet connectivity. Once the shutdown date arrives, users will no longer be able to access emails, calendars, or attachments through the app. Even if the application remains installed, its core features will be completely disabled.

Gradual Phase-Out Already Began

Microsoft had already started phasing out the app earlier by removing it from new downloads in October 2025. Existing users were given a transition period, which is now coming to an end.

Switch to Full Outlook App

The company is advising users to move to the full Microsoft Outlook mobile application for continued access. Users can log in with their existing accounts and continue using all features without losing any data.

No Data Loss for Users

Microsoft has reassured users that their emails, contacts, and calendar data will remain safe and accessible after switching to the main Outlook app. This ensures a smooth and secure transition for all users.

Reason Behind the Decision

This move is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to simplify its services and offer a unified experience across platforms. By focusing on a single app, the company aims to improve performance, enhance security, and deliver a better user experience.

How to Upgrade Easily

Users who are still using Outlook Lite can upgrade by downloading the main Outlook app from the Google Play Store and signing in with their existing credentials.
