The government’s recent decision to raise the minimum wage has faced criticism, with some arguing the increase is too small. From next April, the minimum wage is set to go up by 45 cents, reaching $23.95 per hour. Critics suggest that, when adjusted for living costs, this effectively reduces earnings for certain workers. However, the minister responsible for workplace relations has rejected this view, stating the rise is consistent with projected inflation and reflects a fair adjustment rather than a reduction in pay.
